Early Years
The Ashstock kennels started off with a (a
red bitch) from John F. Gordon (Bandits) in 1962, and exhibited her
at the S.C.S.B.T.S Limit show in 1962.
From this bitch was bred my first Open Show winner, Ashstock
Dandy Badger,.Open Show B.O.B. winner. This modest success in
the show ring made me keen to breed and exhibit better stock, (and I
have always endeavoured to improve since then)
The Prefix Ashstock was granted by the K.C. in 1965
In 1967 I bought a fawn and white bitch, Barrington Wild Rose (Ch.
Buninyong Ceaser x Rellim Regina) from Major and Mrs. Rowley (Barrington).
This bitch was put to Ch. Camdonian Contender (Ch. Rellim Ferryvale
Victor X ) in her first litter she produced Ch. Ashstock Artful Bess
(4 C.C.s and 3 Res. C.C.s) and Ashstock Thornhill Prince, later the
Sire of Ch. Ashstock Red Buttons.
Ch. Ashstock Artful Bess was then put to a red dog, Dennybeck Hard
Diamond 2 C.C.s This dog was a super dog and he should have easily gained
his title, but his owner did not have the time to campaign him due to
his work.
The litter from these two produced Ch. Ashstock Max the Miller (7 C.C.s
and 6 Res. C.C.s), Ch. Ashstock Brinchester ( 7 C.C.s and 7 Res. C.C.s)
and Ashstock Iron Peg, dam of Ch. Ashstock Red Buttons.
She was later mated to Ch. Rapparee Rothersyke Vow, bred by Dr. and
Mrs. Davidson (Rothersyke) and this union produced Ch. Ashstock Lucky
Jim (3 C.C.s), Ch. Ashstock Black Maria (7 C.C.s and 5 Res. C.C.s),
S.A. Ch. Ashstock Pearl Buttons.
Ch. Ashstock Black Maria only produced 3 pups, one them Ashstock Mad
Hatter went to Australia (to the Reeders) and became an Australian Champion.
Ch. Ashstock Red Buttons 4 C.C.s (Ashstock Thornhill Prince x Ashstock
Iron Peg) was mated to Int. Ch. Pitbul Red Regent, (owned by Mr. &
Mrs Ken Fensom (Pitbul) and Ch.Montbell Barbarossa (4 C.C.s) was the
result of that union.
